Previously, he worked for 20 years at Homer Laughlin China. Del was a standout football, basketball and baseball player for Wells High School in Newell where he earned First Team All-State honors in baseball. He also played briefly in the minor league system.

Del was a fan of little league and high school sports, the West Virginia Mountaineers, and the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. He was active in youth baseball as a coach and was inducted into the Old Timers Baseball Hall of Fame. His love of sports was passed along to his children and grandchildren. One of his greatest joys was following the kids’ activities along with his wife Libby.

The couple married September 4, 1950 and together raised four children: three daughters: Beverly Enochs and her husband, Jerry, of Newell; Cynthia “Cindy” Jividen, also of Newell; Jan Gardill of Chantilly, Virginia; and one son: Attorney David A. Jividen and his wife, Betsy, of Wheeling.

In addition to his parents, Del was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy L. Jividen and two brothers, Leonard Jividen and Gerald Jividen.

The Jividen family would like to extend sincere appreciation to Lisa Cox, Jennifer McComas and Connie Doughty who have become part of our family.

Private family services were conducted at the Dawson Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife at Locust Hill Cemetery.
