Obituary for Marion Elizabeth Halstead (Whitley)

CALCUTTA – Marion Elizabeth Halstead, of East Liverpool, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the Calcutta Health Care Center. She was 85.

Born in Waycross, GA on January 17, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Lily Harris Whitley. She lived most of her life in this area and was a member of the Friendship Gospel Tabernacle. Marion enjoyed sewing and crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, John William Halstead and 2nd husband Charles A. Bole. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Lillie Cates; a son John P. Halstead; a sister Wilma Bennett and two grandchildren.

Survivors include three daughters: Beth Shivler and her husband, John, of Hookstown, Naomi Vest and her husband, Elmer, of East Liverpool, and Barbara Clinebell of East Liverpool; along with two sons: Robert Halstead and his wife, Cathy, of Hookstown, and Marion “Dan” Halstead and his wife, Christina, of Newnan, Georgia. There are 21 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters Roberta Brunson and her husband Cyle and Phyllis Shaw and her husband James all of Valdosta, GA; three brothers-in-law Ed Halstead of Highlandtown, Art Halstead and his wife Kathy of Phoenix, AZ and Karl Halstead of West Virginia and three sisters-in-law Fran Vancleave of North Carolina, Janet Halstead of Salem and Hope Andrews of Salem.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Highlandtown Volunteer Fire Department with Pastor Tim Shivler officiating

Burial will be at Mill Creek Hill Cemetery in Hookstown.
