Obituary for Melvin F. "Butch" Brown Jr.

LISBON, OHIO – Melvin F. “Butch” Brown, Jr., 66, of Lisbon passed away Monday, January 14, 2019 at his home after complications due to a recent surgery.

Butch was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on March 6, 1952. He graduated from East Liverpool High School. Butch was a mechanic for Murray Trucking for 46 years. He enjoyed camping and tractor pulls. Butch was an avid car enthusiast. He owned a 1957 Chevy Belair, 1942 Chevy Coupe and recently acquired a 1934 Chevy Coupe.

Melvin was preceded in death by his father Melvin F. Brown, Sr.; mother Vivian (Tucker) Nutter; brother Terry Brown and sister Vicky Sayre.

Surviving are his wife of 9 years, whom he married May 16, 2009, Kathy E. (Ward) Brown; five sons Jay (Rachel) Brown of New Manchester, “Doob” (Heather) Brown of Chester, Donnie (Sara) Thompson of Oldsmar, FL, Jeremy (Carly) Thompson of Henderson, NV and Robert “Bobby” (Sarah) Thompson of Loveland, OH; daughter Jessica Thompson of Charlotte, NC and seven grandchildren Emma, Shane, Mariah, Declan, Blaire, Lyla and Eleanor.

Friends may visit Thursday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 8 p.m. Pastor Joe Cilone of United Brethren the Heights will conduct a funeral service Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Immediately following the service, friends and family will gather at the United Brethren the Heights for fellowship.
