Obituary for Jamie Adkins
LISBON, OH – James L. “Jamie” Adkins, of Lisbon, went to be with his Savior Thursday evening, September 5, 2019 following a tragic vehicular accident in New Castle, Pennsylvania. He was 50.
Born in East Liverpool, March 25, 1969, he was a son of Lyle R. and Cassandra L. “Cassie” Reukauf Adkins of Wellsville. He was a 1987 graduate of Beaver Local High School where he was a member of the basketball team. Jamie was a member of Wellsville First Christian Church and had a special friendship with Pastor Mark Blakeley. Jamie was an excellent provider, a master mechanic, a proud union operator, and a skilled artist. Jamie loved crafting special projects for his children and his grandchildren. We all loved the signature character pancakes he made especially with each person in mind. Jamie was a passionate Steelers’ fan, hard-core music connoisseur and he loved the game of basketball. He enjoyed bargain hunting and picking out just the right gifts for his loved ones and grandchildren. Jamie also had a passion for riding motorcycles, mushroom hunting and traveling. Jamie was the unofficial ambassador for the Beaver Local class of 1987 rallying “wing-night” to gather with his friends.
Jamie was his mother’s baby boy, she often said, “He always wanted to save the world and had a servant’s heart toward others.” She also called him the image of his father’s mannerisms and ways. Jamie’s love of God was evident by his love for people. Our lives are forever altered with the loss of our beloved Jamie. His life, to us, is a cherished snippet of time that will be forever captured in our memories.
Most recently, Jamie worked for Lear, Inc. in New Castle where he was the lead mechanic.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sons whom he adored: Corey Adkins and his wife, Bethany, of Hartville, Nicolas Adkins and his wife, Whittni, of Wellsville, and Christian Adkins and his companion, Madison, of California, as well as three grandchildren: Carter, Liberty and Grayson Adkins.
He also leaves a sister, Jodi Aberegg and her husband, Keith, of Wadsworth, and a brother, Jeff Adkins and his wife, Jill, of Pittsburgh. Other survivors include his nieces and nephews whom he doted upon: Sean Adkins and his wife, Morgan, Dr. Lauren Aberegg, Scott Adkins and his wife, Amber, Matthew Aberegg, Olivia Rodgers and her husband, Dr. Michael, Sarah Adkins, Kevin McKibbney, and Kassie McKibbney.
Jamie is also survived by his soulmate and companion, Kelly Purinton-Clark, and her daughter, Rebekah Clark and her husband, Richard, and was “Abba” to Kelly's grandchildren: Kylee, Ethan, Owen, and Audrey. Jamie is also survived by special friends: Kelley Duck-Manning, Leigh Ann Blakeley-Taylor, Linda Armstrong- Persina, and Adam Wade.
Revelation 21:4: He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
Friends may visit Monday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Rev. Mark Blakeley will conduct a funeral service Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Locust Hill Cemetery.
Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Wellsville First Christian Church for fellowship.
