Norma J. Hoppel, 86

FLORENCE, SC – Norma J. Hoppel, 88, of Florence, South Carolina, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence, South Carolina following a lingering illness.

Born in East Liverpool, November 11, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Mary Katheryn and Allen Downard. A member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1949, she was employed as a buyer for the former A.J. Olsen Company and later worked as a store manager at Newell Furniture.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Leroy Hoppel, and a sister, Karen Roberts.

Surviving are a son, Craig A. Hoppel and his wife, Georgia of Florence; two grandchildren, Ashley Valone (Jonathan) of Hartsville, South Carolina and Jonathan Hoppel (Charlie) of Charlotte, North Carolina; four grandchildren by marriage, Grant Drucker, Taylor Drucker, Jordan Drucker and Jessica Hermosillo (Jessie) of Charleston, South Carolina; and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Joyce Swogger (Bob) of Wellsville, Mary Anderson (Kenny) of East Liverpool, and Cindy Grimm (Kenny) of Wellsville.

A service will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 at the chapel at Columbiana County Memorial Park. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at the cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Dawson Funeral Home.
