Obituary for Thomas N. Fannin

Attorney Thomas N. Fannin, 75

EAST LIVERPOOL – Attorney Thomas N. Fannin, of East Liverpool, passed away Wednesday evening, December 5, 2018 after suddenly becoming ill at home. He was 75.

Born in East Liverpool, November 1, 1943, he was a son of the late Thomas I. and Sarah Fuhrer Fannin. A member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1961, he continued his education at Ohio Wesleyan University. He later would earn his Juris Doctorate at Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1968. For many years Tom operated his local law practice in the East Liverpool area. He was a past president of the Columbiana County Bar Association and held membership in the Ohio State Bar Association.

A member of the East Liverpool Rotary Club, he was a familiar face at many area activities and functions. Tom was a member of his college varsity soccer team and continued his interest in the sport later in life. He was a founding member of the Kiwanis Youth Soccer league in the 1980s where he also served as a coach.

Tom was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force Reserves. He was a member of Longs Run Trinity Presbyterian Church where he taught adult Sunday school. While at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Tom was active as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, elder and trustee.

He is survived by his wife and love of his life, Judith C. Fannin, at home. The couple married August 15, 1970. He also leaves a brother, Robert F. Fannin and his wife, Christine, of Pittsburgh, as well as a sister-in-law Jacqueline Whitehead of East Palestine. Also left to cherish his memory are five nieces, four nephews, two great-nephews, five great-nieces, two great-great-nieces and two great-great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law Jo-Ann Cope.

Friends may visit Sunday evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 4 to 8 p.m. Rev. Dr. Timothy R. Bauler of the church will conduct a funeral service Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
