Obituary for Michael William "Mike" Loy Sr.

East Liverpool, Ohio- Michael W. “Mike” Loy, Sr., 70, of St. Clair Avenue passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 7:00 a.m. at his residence following a brief illness.

Born May 31, 1948 at Chester, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Clifford and Elizabeth Loy. A lifetime area resident, he once worked at the Kaiser Refractories in Columbiana and then retired from the former Insul Inc. in East Palestine, Ohio.

A veteran of the Viet Nam War serving in Viet Nam as a member of the United States Army he was wounded in action earning him the Purple Heart Medal. He was a member of the American Legion #374, VFW #66, the Orioles Club and the Potters Club.

Survivors include two daughters Dawn Marie Loy, and Starlyn Cianni and her husband, John of Lisbon, Ohio; and one son, Michael W. Loy, Jr. of East Liverpool.

There are five grandchildren, Sunshine Burley, Bethany Cianni, Madison Loy, Michael W. Loy III, and Raegan Loy; and four great grandchildren, Joshua Burley, Braden Cianni, Jacob Burley, and Miyah Bailey.

In addition, he is survived by three sisters, Laura Barr of East Liverpool, Elizabeth Barr and her husband, Lonnie of East Liverpool, and Joyce Mellott of East Liverpool.

Friends may visit the family on Thursday from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at the Dawson Funeral Home. Pastor Norman W. Eckert of the Beechwood Free Methodist Church will officiate a service at 6:00 pm Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Immediately following the service family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center.
